about

Words From Miriam:
On a -23 below night in Calais,Vermont, January 18, 2014, Peg Tassey saw me sing at the Whammy Bar. This album ultimately is the result of that night. She saw my light, felt my voice and wanted to do something about it. She shaped the sounds and the feel of this album. She produced this album.
Without her, this album would not exist. Thank you Peg for having the heart, courage and desire to see this vision and project through. It's been a journey of time, sweat, tears, creativity and an utmost dedication to the music and to me. There are not enough words to thank you or to truly convey what it took to get here, thank you for your strength and determination, your "hawk ears" and most importantly, your friendship. You are stalwart. Thank you from my heart. Onwards and upwards.
Thank you to the amazing songwriters who contributed their songs to this effort, your trust and generosity has been above and beyond, most heartfelt thanks to Patti Casey, Michael Chorney, Brian Clark, Seth Eames, James Harvey, Mark LeGrand, Colin McCaffrey, Anais Mitchell, Peg Tassey. We couldn't have done this without your beautiful songs.
This album had three phases in its creation. Our deepest thanks and respect to Colin McCaffrey for being our first sound engineer and Brian Clark for being guitar maverick. Your enthusiasm and encouragement helped us get this project off the ground and create the initial demos. You gave us wings.
Thanks Dan Davine, Josh Weinstein and Bob Wagner for helping Peg and I with phase two as we started to re-imagine the rhythms and sounds for the songs. You fellas are stellar and weren't afraid to try new things. Thank you to the Vermont Community Foundation Endowment for the Arts for giving us a grant and providing the seed money for the development of these songs. Then came phase three which took us three years and a cast of many talented musicians as we brought the ideas we developed to life and recorded them.
With love and utmost respect, thank you to my deer cohorts in music and musicians on this album, My love Robinson Morse, Brian Clark, Seth Eames, Dan Davine, Brett Lanier, Ezra Oklan, James Harvey, Indigo Ruth-Davis, Jer Coons, Jeff Moxley, Ethan Azarian and Sean Preece.
Thank you to the beautiful voices that also make their way on this album, Peg Tassey Brian Clark, Jer Coons Halley Toulis, Stephanie Williams and Hannah Gluck.
Without the love and support of my producer, my family, my sister, my band mates, my dearest friends, my partner...you all know I would be sunk without you, There are not enough words or stars in the sky to tell you how much I love you all. You all have my heart in your pocket.

Words from Peg:
My deepest thanks and love to Miriam for her astounding voice, her gigantic heart, her sense of humor and for believing in me. We never imagined this album would take 5 years to make, but she supported me through thick and thin. it has been an honor to work with her and to listen carefully and closely to the beautiful sounds, the air, and like Michael said, the warm thickness "like liquor' of her voice. She worked hard. She sang hard and brought everything that is in her heart to these songs. I love you dearly Miriam and I can't thank you enough for giving me this opportunity to work with you and to follow our dream. Thank you for all the maple creemees. And more than anything I thank you for your friendship. You are stalwart. Onward and Upwards and here's to our 'smooth transition'. wink wink, xo
Thank you to these engineers who drew from their unique experiences and talents to help me find and create the sounds I was hoping for. Colin McCaffrey, thank you for recording Miriam's voice the way you do. You capture its spaciousness and every lush bit of it somehow. This album wouldn't exist without your initial interest, support, enthusiasm and skills.
Jeff Moxley, words can never explain how much you taught me and how much I have enjoyed working with you. You changed my ears forever. You treated me with respect and helped me find the confidence to see my vision through. I can't thank you enough for that ultimate gift. And for your sweet friendship and all the hours you put in on this project. Your approach to music and the sounds you create on instruments and in the studio are a dream come true.
Ryan Cohen, thank you for your steady ear, your expert skills and for your awesome dog, Robot. We started at a crazy time in this process and I have to say you have the patience of a saint.
Jer coons, for the last 7 months you have been my partner in crime. You have given so much of your time, energy, creativity and incredible talents to this album and always with a positive attitude. You made me feel at home in your studio, and that was where so many of the cool sounds, harmonies, and finishing touches on this record happened. You are a true music wizard and your contribution to this album can not be understated. Such a talented and kind soul and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being a big part of this project.
To the songwriters, I can not say enough about your beautiful songs. I lived in goosebumps for all these years, taking in your poetry and melodies. So much respect from my heart to all of you. Xo
My work on this album is dedicated to my husband Indigo Ruth-Davis and my daughter Audrey Tassey Ayer for their unending love and support. And to my Mom, Audrey Vilma Danko, who watched over me from the great beyond as I stepped out of my comfort zone and into the abyss.
